| Duel at Diablo (1966): While crossing the desert, a frontier scout, Jess Remsberg (Garner), saves Ellen Grange (Andersson) from a pursuing band of Apaches, and returns it to her husband, Willard Grange (Weaver). He is acting under contract as a scout for an Army cavalry unit. Willard, Ellen and her little son are on the ride, horse dealers Toller (Poitier) is a veteran of the 10th Cavalry (the "Buffalo Soldiers"). The party is trapped baby in a ravine of Chata, an Apache chief and grandfather of Ellens. Willard is imprisoned and tortured. Jess sneaks away and brings reinforcements just in time to save the day.
